Pet Portraits
Capturing the likeness of your pets is so very important. That is why it takes such time and effort to ensure that ‘spark’ is captured. Getting them right requires a significant amount of work, starting from selecting the ideal reference picture, to hours painting, varnishing and then considering the correct frame to compliment the painting.

Whatever you choose, I will work with you closely to create a special piece of art that totally reflects the character and spirit of your pet.

Prices start at £295 but vary a lot depending on the reference picture, size, number of subjects, art materials and complexity. Please message in the contact page to get an accurate price and timescales.

Pet Portrait Process
-
You can make initial enquiries through the contact form on this website. From there, I will reply promptly and discuss with you time frames, your reference images, and background choices.

-
Once you have chosen your images and background, I will request a non-refundable 35% deposit before starting work on the portrait.

-
After completing your artwork, I will email you a photo of the finished portrait for your approval. Once you approve the painting and are satisfied with it, you can decide if you want it framed (which will come with an additional cost) and I will arrange this after receiving the remaining balance.

-
Collection, or delivery will then be arranged.
Choosing the correct reference photo

Ideally the reference photo will be:
-
High resolution
-
Well-lit (over-cast days usually offer the best lighting) Too strong a light will burn out much of the highlights
-
Taken at eye-level with the subject (where possible)
-
In proportion (e.g. avoid noses too close to the camera) unless you particularly want a quirky portrait
-
A photo that sums up your pet to young has that 'spark' that you recognise
